Everything you need to know about applying for a Zimbabwe National Identity Document
If you don't have a birth certificate, you'll need to apply for one first.
Make sure you have your birth certificate and proof of parentage. Get photocopies of everything.
Go to any Registrar General's office in Zimbabwe. The main office is at Makombe Building, Harare. District offices are in every provincial capital and major town.
Complete the ID application form provided at the office. An officer will assist you if needed.
Your fingerprints will be taken electronically. Most offices now take your biometric photo digitally on-site.
First-time applications are free. Replacement IDs cost US$10 (or equivalent in ZiG). Fees can be paid in USD or ZiG (Zimbabwe Gold) at the prevailing rate.
You will be given a waiting number or receipt. Return after 4-6 weeks to collect your national ID card.
